Race Day

Futral Road Elementary had their Annual Heart Hustle Saturday. We entered Bo in the Tot Trot. This was his first official race. I think he is going to be our little marathon runner. It was thirty degrees...yes, really, it was. But, that didn't stop our little Bo man. He absolutely loved every minute of it. He ran with his friend Lillee Grace and they were too cute for words. Bo kept shouting "This is fun Mommy, This is fun". When he crossed the finish line, we were so thankful, because our faces and lips were numb and the snot oozing from all of our noses was frozen...seriously! But, Bo asked if he could run again. The little trooper would have run the race ten times if we would have let him. He had such a blast. We had a great weekend!

Busy Bees

Wow, we are off and running this week. I was hoping to write about our weekend, but never got around to it. We had a very laid back weekend...we seem to like those around here. Bo and I took Ryan lunch to the baseball field Saturday. Bo loved it because he got to wear his monster boots and followed his Daddy all around the field. We didn't stay long because the high was only 42....too cold for us! The rest of the weekend was spent indoors cleaning, playing and watching cartoons. We did get a chance to eat at Five Guys this weekend in Peachtree City...yummy, yum! This is similar to In and Out Burger which we just loved when we went to Phoenix. The highlight of my weekend was painting my bedroom furniture...yes, you heard me right, painting my bedroom furniture. I will post before and after pics this coming weekend when I finish doing the other pieces. I took our old furniture and decided to spray paint it black and put new drawer pulls on........it looks fabulous! My friends that have seen it can't believe it's the same dresser. It really does look like it came from Restoration Hardware or Pottery Barn. I am very impressed, if I do say so myself. Hopefully I'll have some good pics to post early next week of the finished room. That was our weekend in a nutshell. As for yesterday and today, we have been extremely busy doing the everyday stuff. Tonight I had a school board meeting to attend and so once again, I missed Pilates......(very sad about this) Anyway Jenn and I need to get on our regular program soon. I say 5:15 in the morning.....she says 8:30 at night........only time will tell. It just needs to warm up first before we do anything. If only my treadmill would decide to work that would be fabulous, but no, it's finally decided that it needs a break from me and so that means the fat is going to creep back on if I'm not careful. I didn't lose 35 pounds for nothing.....i still need to lose about 15 and I will be completely and utterly satisfied once and for all. So for now, I'll try to cut back on the little debbies, mickey d's, d-nuts, regular cokes, brownies, cakes, school lunches, sweet tea....JUST KIDDING MOM....got ya didn't I? My mom, god love her...she has always pestered me about staying healhty and eating right and Dad just wants me to eat everything....food is very big in our family but somehow we somewhat all manage to stay within normal weight limits. Well it's about that time when I should lay my sleepy head on my pillow and as Bo would say "it's time to take a nap" ---

Appreciated!!!

Sorry it has been so long since my last post. This has been a very busy week. I thought the title of this post was appropriate because it decribes how I feel. My family has really shown how much they appreciate me this week. Ryan made sure he was home in time both Tuesday and tonight so that I could go to Pilates. I haven't been since before Christmas and it felt great getting back into the groove. Ryan knows that next month it will be impossible because of baseball to be home in time for me to enjoty pilates with my friends so he went and bought me the dvd so I could do it at home. He also told me he would clean the entire kitchen when he got home and would also cook dinner for us! Wow. How fortunate I am. How thoughful! Last night while Bo and I were eating dinner, he said "Mommy, this is delicious and thank you so much, I appreciate it" Ok, I',m still not sure how he learned the word appreciated, but is was adorable to hear him say that. He kept repeating it over and over. I was wondering if Ryan had a hidden camera somewhere in the house telling him to say those things, but he was just saying them on his own. It is amazing how fast they grow up. Yesterday was also a fun day for Bo at school. He took a picnic to share with his class. It started off by me wanting to take grapes to share with his class because they would just go bad before we had a chance to eat them here at home. So I decided they should have some Mickey Mouse cheese and crackers to go with it. I didn't have anything to transport all the goodies, so I dug up a picnic basket we had and Bo thought it was the greatest idea ever. He was so proud carrying that basket into school. His teacher was so thrilled that the class had an inside picnic, since it was absolutely freezing outside. Fun was had by all. We will definately have to make this something we do at least once a month. As you can tell, Bo was exhausted from the day's activities. Sweet dreams to all!

For the Love of the Game

We had such a nice and relaxing weekend. We did have a first in the Meeks household this weekend. Ryan and Bo had a boys outing Saturday night while Mommy got some much needed shopping time with the girls. During the boys outing, Ryan bought Bo his first baseball glove..it is the cutest thing!!! Bo absolutely loves it. He played catch for me all night when he got home. In fact, he loved it so much he decided that he needed a batting helmet as well. Yes, this helmet is an adult small.....my child has a HUGE noggin. I mean, the helmet is a wee big right now, but in a few months it will fit just fine. Bo wanted one in every color, but we ended up buying him a red helmet to wear to Ryan's baseball games......I think he wants to start his batboy duty early. After our Sunday shopping trip to Dick's, we decided we would shop for a bed for Bo. He is going to be out of his crib in no time and we will need a bed for him. There is much debate about to bunk or not to bunk.....that is the question around here. Ryan and I both like bunk beds, but it seems everyone else is trying to convince us to just buy a twin bed with a trundle. After much searching today, we found the cutest bed at Haverty's. It is identical to the pottery barn blue bunk (twin over full) except the price tag is half of pottery barn's. I think we might go with this one, however nothing is set in stone yet. I just love the blue furniture, I think it fits Bo perfectly. Not to mention Bo really liked it also. Decisions, Decisions........After our shopping adventure we all came home, turned off all the ringers on the phones and took naps....it was sooo nice. After naptime we went to Meme's and had dinner with the clan. I tried to get a picture of Bo and his cousins all cooperating but that is impossible for Children under 5. Bo always has a great time playing with Colton, Sydney and Teagan. Dinner was yummy. We soon returned home for baths and bedtime. That was our weekend in a nutshell.

Lions, Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

Who says it's no fun being sick? I stayed home with Bo today because he has a nasty cold with a ferocious cough. The stomach bug is also going around his class at school so I thought I would keep him out for 2 days and hopefully by Monday he will be feeling better and his classroom will have been hosed with Clorox. So today Bo and I watched endless episodes of Dora and Diego and also the movie Madagascar while playing with his lion, tiger, bear, elephant and zebra animal figures he got for Christmas. I also tried to be the cool mom and set up his tent for him......yes, there is a reason why guys always do this sort of stuff. I mean, it wasn't that hard, but I just didn't really know what I was doing and with a 2 year old, not only do you need to know what you are doing, but you need to be able to do it very, very fast! My patience was wearing thin trying to get the poles through the tent, Bo was trying to help me (meanwhile almost poking my eye out and his) the dog was sniffing around and trying to climb in the tent that wasn't even put up yet.....but yes I persevered through it all!!! So who says being sick is no fun.....we had lots of fun today, just Bo and Mommy.

Funny Bowen-ism: Bo likes for me to count to 3 before he does anything, so tonight he wanted me to count for him before he raced his cars. So, I started counting in a funny voice like the count does on Sesame Street and Bo started shouting: Mommy count softly, count softly Mommy!!! He is a funny kid I tell you.

Washed Away

I thought maybe we had been washed away during our sleep last night. We went to bed and it was raining, I woke up and it was still raining.....I do however love, love to go to work when it is raining. I guess I feel like I'm not missing out on anything when it rains. My classroom feels so cozy on rainy days.

We had a nice surprise when we got home from work today. Ryan's mom decided to stop by and fix chili for us! We were so excited to have chili and cornbread waiting for us on such a dreary day. Thank you Brenda!!
By the way, just picture Bo above shouting, "Look, Ma, no hands"...this is what happens at our house when it is raining outside!!!!

Monster Boots

It's monster boot time at the Meeks home. Bo was very excited when he awoke from his nap to find it raining outside. He loves to wear his monster boots and splash in the puddles. I just realized this was the second post about Bo and his shoes...I guess he takes after his mommy and daddy who also share a love for shoes!!!!!
